Senior post offers the opportunity to be a role model for professional practice, lead clinical innovation and deliver autonomous high-quality upper and lower diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including TNE and capsule endoscopy. The role is available across our two hospital sites and includes the opportunity to become a BCSP colonoscopist if not already accredited. The successful applicant will deliver practitioner‑led out‑patient clinics for specific cohorts of patients.
Responsibilities- Deliver upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy at an advanced level of clinical practice in accordance with national standards and JAG accreditation.
- Act as a role model for professional practice, exercising accountability and providing leadership within the Clinical Endoscopist Team and the wider Endoscopy/Gastroenterology service.
- Work closely with all multidisciplinary team members to assist in the operation and strategic development of the service, ensuring the maintenance of JAG accreditation.
- Deliver and develop JAG training courses and provide training, assessment and supervision of clinical and medical endoscopy trainees.
- Participate in the planning and delivery of formal JAG courses and support the Trust’s JAG Training Lead.
- Support junior members of the team in academic and prescribing development as an Independent Prescriber.
- Ensure departmental JAG accreditation is maintained and contribute to continuous service improvement across the two endoscopy units.
- JAG accredited trainer and assessor.
- Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent.
- Independent Prescriber qualification.
- Evidence of experience in delivering advanced upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to high quality patient care and continuous improvement.
