This role is hosted by the National Trust but will involve working across multiple partners including the National Trust, Natural England, Environment Agency, RSPB, The Woodland Trust and the Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trusts. It is a hybrid role, with regional travel required;
you will be contractually based at your nearest National Trust property.
Nature in the UK is at risk, and a £44 billion funding gap over the next decade means the private sector needs to be brought to the table. Over the next two years Midlands Nature (MN) will position itself as a broker for these new funding relationships. As Project Manager, you will deliver a £350,000 NLHF‑funded project to establish MN as a key player in nature recovery.
You will work closely with the MN Chair and partners to lead project delivery, convene a community of practice for those developing nature finance projects, commission expert evidence, build a business plan, and secure the next phase of MD’s development and ambitions.
- Experience working across a complex set of matrix organisations on innovative partnership projects.
- Understanding of sustainability within a private sector context and interest in green finance (desirable).
- Senior‑level communication skills, building relationships within diverse teams, influencing change.
- Demonstrable ability to build and maintain complex stakeholder relationships at a senior level.
- Leadership and ability to manage and motivate project teams; supporting governance, managing sponsor, stakeholder and client relationships.
- Managing complex supplier relationships and resolving challenges when they arise.
- Proactive, organised, experience managing projects, talent for multi‑tasking and detail focus; holding a project management qualification such as Prince 2 or equivalent.
- Flexible thinking, problem‑solving, negotiation skills, building productive networks, confident in influencing decisions.
- Experience working across different teams or departments, navigating complexity and working constructively with others.
- Strong communication skills, building effective relationships and influencing colleagues at various levels.
- Proven ability to maintain productive stakeholder relationships, communicating ideas clearly to different audiences.
- Experience supporting or leading project work: coordinating tasks, governance, keeping work on track.
- Ability to manage relationships with suppliers or partners, resolving issues when they arise.
- Highly organised and proactive, managing multiple priorities and delivering work on time to a high standard.
- Good problem‑solving skills, confident in influencing decisions and supporting progress.
