Job Overview
Shrewsbury Central East Community Mental Health Team is looking for a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to work part‑time (15 hours per week).
Responsibilities- Provide a specialist clinical psychology service within the CMHT, working with clients remotely or face‑to‑face in NHS settings, other care environments, or at home as necessary.
- Communicate complex information effectively in highly emotive situations and overcome psychological resistances to potentially threatening issues.
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the service’s policies and procedures, adhering to Trust policies, professional ethics, and standards.
- Develop expertise and advise the service on clinical matters; contribute to service and project development across the wider Trust area.
- Lead or contribute to training, supervision and governance aspects of specific models of service delivery.
- Supervise and support more junior psychologists within CMHS and provide peer supervisory support to colleagues as appropriate.
- Travel within Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin as required, providing clinical services face‑to‑face and remotely.
Work with a leading NHS Trust, part of a team of around 9,000 staff delivering physical and mental healthcare, learning disability support, adult social care and various specialities across Staffordshire, Stoke‑on‑Trent, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

Person Specification Experience- Essential:
Years of experience in community mental health settings dealing with complex cases. - Desirable:
Experience outside the current job description.

Registered with the Health Professions Council. - Essential:
Post‑graduate doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology (or equivalent), including two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology. - Desirable:
Post‑doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice. - Desirable:
Considerable experience of working with people with complex psychological trauma and systemic working.
