To accurately maintain and update council tax account records to ensure prompt billing and collection of council tax.
To maintain a knowledge and awareness of all aspects of Local Taxation legislation and regulations
To assist in the effective and efficient collection of outstanding council tax due to the council
To propose and check refunds of overpaid council tax for accounts in credit
To deal with customer enquiries by telephone and letter in accordance with Service standards
To provide a high level of customer service at all times
To negotiate and monitor arrangements within the guidelines set in the Council’s collection policy
To liaise with various external agencies and organisations and relevant officers or agents of the Council in respect all council tax liability matters
To communicate with third parties such as employers, DWP, CAB in relation to billing and collection of council tax as appropriate.
