Financial Controller

Up to £75,000 per annum Are you an experienced financial professional with a knack for both strategic oversight and day-to-day accounting? We are working with a growing Tech SME in Manchester who are looking to recruit a Financial Controller to lead their finance function.
The Role:
As the Financial Controller, you will be a key player in driving the financial health of the business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll play an integral role in shaping the company's financial strategy, helping to steer growth, and ensuring long-term sustainability. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where your contributions will directly impact business decisions.
You'll be responsible for overseeing the accounting function and manage a small team.
Your role will include both strategic and operational responsibilities, allowing you to use your expertise across the full spectrum of financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Managing Director to develop and implement the financial strategy of the business. Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end and year-end close, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll. Prepare accurate financial reports, budgets, and forecasts, providing insight into key financial metrics and performance. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards. Manage cash flow and working capital, identifying opportunities for cost savings and improving financial efficiency.
Supervise and mentor one direct report, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting processes. Support the business with financial analysis for key decision-making and strategic planning.
What We're Looking For:
ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent experience). Strong experience in financial management, ideally within an SME or growing business. Demonstrable experience in both strategic planning and day-to-day accounting operations. Strong Excel and financial modelling skills. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and actionable way. A proactive, hands-on approach to managing the financial function and leading a small team.
