Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Ward Clerk on our brand new modular wards at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Ward 38 & 39 will be equipped to care for 28 Gastroenterology & Colorectal inpatients each.
As a Ward Clerk you will be pivotal in providing a high standard of service to patients and relatives attending the department. Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under non-direct supervision, prioritising your own workload. We need someone with a flexible approach who will be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload.
Our purpose is simple - Putting Patients First. We are looking for exceptional colleagues who can help us achieve this.
- Experience in dealing with the general public; they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with and helping patients throughout the working day.
- Communicate with all levels of staff both face to face and over the telephone.
- Provide vital administrative and clerical support within hospital wards, acting as a central communication hub for patients, families, nurses, and doctors.
- Key duties include: managing patient records; admitting/discharging patients; scheduling appointments; working on Care Flow and New EPR system; answering phone calls and emails; coordinating with other departments for supplies and services; ensuring a smooth and organized environment on the ward.
- Ability to work in a busy, changing environment with a flexible approach within contracted hours.
- Strong communication and organisational skills; ability to work under supervision or with minimal direct supervision.
- Good IT skills and experience with care flow and EPR systems is advantageous.
