Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, this role provides administrative support for DES skilled professional medical personnel, including physicians and psychologists. The Disability Assistant handles complex decisions regarding protected health information, following HIPAA regulations, and serves as a primary customer service interface for clients and external agencies.

Major Responsibilities
  • Review disability supplements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Make decisions regarding privacy and information exchange in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Request clinical information from treating sources.
  • Coordinate case information and follow-up with external databases and agencies.
  • Distribute cases to appropriate staff and manage case documentation.
  • Coordinate transportation for client evaluations and reschedule as needed.
  • Provide customer service via phone and support functions.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years office experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Word, Access, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Discretion handling confidential information.
