Responsibilities- Perform certified DOT inspections and preventative maintenance inspections.
- Conduct light and follow‑up repairs, including diagnostics of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Carry out minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, power‑steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Participate in regular safety training and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of safety protocols.
- Document work using company standards, upload pictures, and record parts used on Repair Orders (RO) with proprietary application.
- Communicate with management, team members, and dispatch via Microsoft Office products, email, and phone to obtain approvals, purchase order numbers, and discuss findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Source parts from approved local and national vendors, and manage parts inventory and equipment on service truck.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks, manage own daily schedule, and work independently.
- Engage with clients and customers to assess needs, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
- Diagnose, test, and repair various types of truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Coordinate with customers, dispatch, and sales team to discuss vehicle problems and work to be performed.
- Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years experience in a related field (or higher education or certification beyond HS diploma). Preferred combination of light and heavy-duty experience.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical, or provide a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining (otherwise a DOT physical is required).
- Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license.
- Maintain a clean 3‑year Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) review and be able to acquire and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- Demonstrate critical‑thinking skills, excellent customer service, attention to detail, and situational awareness.
- Hourly base pay: $28.65 – $42.98 per hour (may vary by location and qualifications).
- Potential for commission, annual, monthly, or incentive compensation.
- Employees receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off per month and seven paid holidays annually.
- Additional paid time off options include bereavement leave, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
