Retail Shortage Control - Part Time at Burlington Stores, Inc.
Join our team as a Shortage Control Associate and help maintain a safe, welcoming shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service.
As an SCA, you will work at store entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas, using command presence, theft‑trend knowledge, and a positive tone to deter theft and create a secure experience for shoppers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct yourself in a confident, friendly manner.
- Stand positioned at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
- Greet every customer, providing a warm smile and a loud, friendly greeting that promotes a sense of control.
- Monitor the entrance throughout each shift, reducing opportunities for shoplifting and other dishonest activities.
- Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty promptly.
- Support training for associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
- Model safety as a priority and address unsafe practices immediately.
Essential qualifications:
- 1+ year’s experience in customer service, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations is preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while visually monitoring the store environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, supporting productive business relationships.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and analyze business trends.
- Work well in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with discipline and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
