Processes meat products, fulfills special customer requests, ensures market and seafood cases remain full, rotates and refreshes prepackaged meats, and promotes customer service.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Processes meat by removing fat, tenderizing, grinding, and/or cutting to proper thickness and size.
- Cuts, weighs, packages, and labels product using precision and non‑precision hand tools and/or instruments.
- Clears, assembles, and prepares machinery and equipment for operation, ensuring proper function. Operates machinery, regulates speed, and stops machinery at precise points indicated.
- Conducts product quality control checks to meet food safety and labeling standards.
- Stacks pallets and sorts product into correct locations according to company efficiency standards and expectations.
- Provides friendly, customer service‑oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and fulfilling requests for special cuts of meat.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures.
Skills And Abilities
- Safely work with sharp objects such as knives and box cutters.
- Safely operate and maintain department equipment.
- Use non‑precision and precision hand tools.
- Effectively communicate in written and verbal form with customers and partners.
- Learn new systems, methods and processes.
- Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Identify potential hazards, remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices promptly.
- Report any unremediable hazards to a supervisor.
- Minimum of 18 years of age required.
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for company business under BGC Business Driver Policy.
- High school diploma or GED and one or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education.
- Food Handler certification required.
- Continuously require close vision, distance vision, depth perception, or ability to focus.
- Continuously require stand or walk.
- Continuously require use hands for reaching, touching or handling.
- Continuously require maintain steady hand while manipulating objects by hand and using fine finger movements.
- Continuously require push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs.
- Frequently require push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.
- Frequently require talk and hear.
- Frequently require bend, kneel or squat.
- Occasionally require push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 100 lbs.
- Attendance at work is required.
- Work generally performed in a retail store.
- Continuously exposed to equipment with sharp blades or edges.
- Continuously exposed to extreme cold conditions (non‑weather).
- Continuously exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.
- Frequently exposed to cleaning agents.
- Moderate to loud noise level.
