IGH has a national and international program staff and a corporate headquarters in Springfield, Virginia.
IGH seeks a qualified individual to serve as a Volunteer Support Technician (VST) for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) - State Committed Support program. ESGR promotes supportive work environments for Service members in the Reserve Components through outreach, recognition, and education, and maintains a network of volunteers and committees across the United States and territories.
The VST provides administrative, logistical, and subject matter expert services for ESGR. The VST works closely with ESGR HQ and State Chair, providing staff-level administrative support to the State Committee and program support to state leadership and volunteers in the state where the position is located. VSTs do not hold or perform duties on the State Committee and cannot volunteer for any Defense Support Services Center (DSSC) related duties, positions, or assignments.
Responsibilities- Work in close coordination with State Chairs and Guard/Reserve leadership at national, state, and local levels.
- Track compliance for State Committee volunteers with access to DoD IT systems, PII, and cybersecurity training.
- Analyze current systems and programs and recommend improvements for DSSC policy compliance and ESGR guidance.
- Provide program improvements to ensure ESGR policies and guidance are followed.
- Perform administrative tasks to establish and manage a volunteer network; maintain member data in ESGR systems of record (ESGR Portal and Event
PLUS). - Maintain data in Event
PLUS and the MMS; monitor data accuracy and availability. - Enter Patriot Award delivery details into Event
PLUS and record statements of support. - Create events for volunteer activities and complete After-Action Reports in Event
PLUS. - Download training reports from Event
PLUS and record training completed by volunteers in their MMS records. - Enter volunteer hours for the previous month into MMS.
- Manage registration for all Employer outreach events in Event
PLUS. - Provide ESGR system data to State Chair on volunteer contributions and employer status as requested.
- Support volunteers in establishing relationships with DSSC customers and partners to enhance engagement.
- Coordinate government reporting on ESGR-funded equipment and ensure proper accountability.
- Provide information on Joint Ethics Regulation as it applies to volunteers representing DoD.
- Coordinate logistics for training events, conferences, and meetings (room setup, AV, internet, marketing materials). Contractors shall not book hotel rooms for government or volunteers.
- Provide USP&FO information to coordinate government purchase card actions and ESGR contracts.
- Provide basic IT assistance to volunteers (e.g., resetting passwords for the ESGR Portal).
- Support state/territory chairs and HQ ESGR staff in planning and executing SC activities per ESGROI guidance.
- Keep the State Chair informed of communications between the SC and HQ ESGR.
- Provide ad hoc reports from MMS and Event
PLUS to the State Chair or HQ ESGR. - Validate USP&FO and Event
PLUS reconciliation reports; inform volunteers of fund status. - Reconcile reports with ESGR-approved SC Annual Spending Plans; notify leadership if expenditures exceed projections.
- Provide analysis of past funds execution and events to support SC Annual Spending Plans.
- Distribute communications (emails, flyers, training information) to volunteers to facilitate ESGR activities.
- Assist leadership with access to ESGR award nominations and submission deadlines.
- Coordinate committee volunteer participation in Military outreach briefings.
- Perform quarterly validations of committee contact and leadership information on esgr.mil state pages.
- Ensure volunteers have necessary information to plan and execute SC missions (Military Outreach, Employer Outreach, Volunteer Training, Awards, Public Affairs, Ombudsman).
- Ensure volunteers are aware of the ESGR online resource library in MMS.
- Act as a non-accountable official (NDEA) in DTS.
- Review travel vouchers for proper completion; maintain a tracking system for travel reimbursements and verify payments.
- Ensure volunteers have a valid volunteer agreement (DoD Form 2793) before service, saved in MMS.
- Document and submit volunteer hours for previous month by the 6th of each month.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Familiarity with National Guard and Reserve Component Organizations.
- Knowledge of USERRA and related DoD directives/instructions and RC policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
