Manufacturing Engineer - Night Shift at SLB
The Manufacturing Engineer at SLB is a self‑starter who works independently to support production quality and materials. The role focuses on troubleshooting, standardizing and continuously improving manufacturing processes, leveraging Lean Six Sigma and advanced manufacturing methodologies to drive process innovation, optimize material flow, perform capacity analyses, and act as a subject‑matter expert for manufacturing simulations and systems analysis.
Roles & Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and resolve technical and quality issues on the shop floor during day operations.
- Lead continuous process improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools such as Value Stream Mapping, standardized work, line balancing, Kaizen, 5S, cell design, batch‑size optimization, and pull systems.
- Analyze material movements and process flows to optimize layout, improve efficiency, and reduce waste.
- Perform capacity analysis and use simulation tools to assess and improve manufacturing processes and material handling.
- Identify process bottlenecks and develop/implement innovative solutions to maximize throughput.
- Lead Kaizen/continuous improvement initiatives and train shop floor personnel on new processes and standards.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to process capability, yield, cycle time, and product quality.
- Develop, update, and implement process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing Technology to integrate new products and technologies into operations, providing feedback and capturing lessons learned.
- Lead and participate in structured problem‑solving and root cause analysis of manufacturing issues.
- Ensure consistent application of best practices and adherence to engineering specifications.
- Support cost reduction, productivity improvement, and quality assurance projects.
- Responsible for implementing key lean elements such as standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence (routing) optimization, training development matrix, value stream mapping, kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM, cell design, and quick changeover/batch‑size optimization.
- Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in process yield, cycle time reduction, and productivity.
- Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMs through engineering change requests.
- Review and sign‑off on engineering change orders that impact inventory, including product life cycle issues and obsolescence.
- Create, implement, and monitor key performance indicators and metrics on manufacturing process capability and product quality.
- Monitor and reduce process costs.
- Assist with investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.
- Ensure new processes are established using lean concepts such as standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence optimization, training development matrix, value stream mapping, kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM, cell design, and quick changeover/batch‑size optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement projects on manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and benchmark best‑in‑class manufacturing techniques for Schlumberger and OEM products.
- Establish pilot testing and scale‑up plan for manufacturing technology implementation.
- Work with Manufacturing and Engineering métiers and stakeholders during prove‑out testing of processes, supporting manufacturing engineers on technology issues for new product development.
- Coordinate with manufacturing métiers and other resources across the company to share and leverage best practices.
- Ensure manufacturing technology solutions achieve required quality levels, reliability, and consistency.
Shift: Mon - Thu, 5:00pm – 3:30am
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical manufacturing experience.
