Overview
This job assists the imaging technologists, nurses, and radiologists with all daily activities of the department. Performs a variety of ancillary duties to expedite the performance of imaging procedures in the most efficient and safe manner, including visually monitoring patients who are either waiting for their procedure or waiting to be transported to their hospital room.
Responsibilities- Escort patients and assist in their care under the guidance of technologists.
- Navigate computer systems to obtain necessary information and support workflow.
- Observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during their stay in the imaging department.
- Transport supplies, equipment, instruments, charts, records, x-rays, and reports for the department.
- Maintain adequate supplies in exam rooms; handle oxygen tanks; develop and copy films as needed.
- Promote a balanced workload and a positive work environment to support team goals.
- Adapt communication and service explanations to diverse patient populations, maintaining privacy and obtaining permissions as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Education –
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Work Experience –
Required:
None. Preferred:
Work experience in an acute care setting or operating room environment. - Certifications –
Required:
Certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 6 months of employment. - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) –
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Knowledge of radiology procedures and technical language.
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, on-call, etc.).
