As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you are an integral part of the rehabilitation team, working under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain movement, alleviate pain, and restore function following injury, illness, or surgery.
- Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the physical therapist to address patients’ specific rehabilitation goals and functional needs.
- Lead patients through prescribed exercises and therapeutic activities designed to enhance their physical function and promote recovery. Instruct patients on proper technique and monitor progress.
- Apply various treatment modalities, monitor patient responses, and adjust parameters to optimize outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on injury prevention, body mechanics, and pain management techniques.
- Monitor progress, document changes, and communicate updates with the supervising physical therapist.
- Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current license/certification in the state of practice.
