Activity Assistant

Overview

The Activity Assistant supports the Activities Department in planning, organizing, and leading recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for residents. This role helps enhance residents’ quality of life by encouraging participation, social interaction, and emotional well-being in a safe and respectful environment.

• Assist in planning and leading group and one-on-one activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, and social events
• Encourage resident participation while respecting individual abilities, interests, and care plans
• Help set up, clean up, and organize activity materials and spaces
• Escort residents to and from activity locations as needed
• Provide friendly companionship and positive interaction with residents
• Observe and report residents’ participation, mood, or concerns to the Activities Director
• Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and outings
• Follow all safety, infection control, and facility policies

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience working with seniors, healthcare, or recreation is a plus (but not required)
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable personality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist residents as needed
