Engineer, Civil Engineering

RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Engineer 1 in Shreveport, LA
. This is a full-time, in-office, contract-to-hire opportunity with our client. The schedule is Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
. The position offers a pay rate of $29/hr ($60,320 annually) with the potential to grow into a permanent engineering role.

In this role, you will design and analyze replacement power utility poles, ensuring compliance with national safety standards and utility company guidelines. You will support construction projects by preparing cost estimates, material lists, and detailed CAD drawings while working within a collaborative team environment. This position provides the opportunity to develop your engineering skills with long‑term growth potential, including progression toward Professional Engineer certification.

• Use CAD tools to design replacement utility poles for damaged or aging infrastructure
• Perform structural analysis to verify strength and resiliency under wind and ice conditions
• Ensure designs comply with NESC standards and utility company guidelines
• Prepare bills of materials, cost estimates, and construction drawings for field crews
• Collaborate in a team environment to meet quality and output goals
• Apply engineering concepts to diverse and adjustable project scopes

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (from a 4‑year accredited school)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to take accurate notes
• Professionalism, honesty, and maturity in customer‑facing work
• Ability to stay focused and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment
• Willingness to ask questions and learn, with an understanding of the training curve

• Prior experience in utility pole placement or structural design
• Familiarity with CAD software and engineering analysis tools
• Previous experience in construction support or utility infrastructure projects
