Northwestern State University College of Nursing and School of Allied Health is seeking applicants for a 12-month, full-time faculty position as Nurse Anesthesia Faculty within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. This position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana, with an anticipated start date of January 5, 2026
.

Academic rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. The position will remain open until filled.

Applicants must be doctorally prepared and hold an unencumbered Louisiana license as a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse and have current certification or recertification as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Applicants must have administrative/leadership experience and experience in teaching in a nurse anesthesia educational program. Applicants must have experience in building practice‑educational partnerships with teaching experience at the doctoral nursing level is preferred.

Applicants must show evidence of ongoing scholarly activity, adeptness at online educational technology, and be eligible to serve as a member of Northwestern State University's Graduate Faculty. Must be willing to travel, pass a background check, and meet the required standards defined by the University.

Qualifications
  • Must be doctorally prepared.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, administers, and delivers the Nurse Anesthesia program curriculum.
  • Ensures nurse anesthesia student clinical experiences are congruent with COA's Guidelines for Counting Clinical Experiences and CCNE's standards relating to direct practice clinical experiences as well LSBN's regulatory guidelines for advanced practice nursing.
  • Ensures the Nurse Anesthesia program is built upon CCNE's Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice and COA's Standards for Nurse Anesthesia Programs, the Practice Doctorate.
  • Assists in the hiring of didactic faculty that meet the governing body's requirements for teaching in doctoral level nursing courses.
