ROLE
We are seeking a Legal Office Assistant to support the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana (USAO WDLA) in Shreveport, LA. In this role, you will provide administrative and litigation support for immigration matters, with a focus on deadline tracking and case file management.

RESPONSIBILITIES- Review immigration filings and track temporary restraining order (TRO) and other injunctive‑relief deadlines
- Update local and division‑wide deadlines and documents daily, as well as docket information
- Maintain databases/files and correspondence regarding immigration litigation compliance
- Prepare documentation pertinent to new, current, and closing immigration cases
- Communicate with agency staff regarding deadlines, data gathering and entry, and case details
- Assist with full case openings for immigration cases
- Provide additional clerical and litigation‑support assistance as assigned
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of administrative and office support practices
- Ability to create, format, and manage documents and records
- Skill in data entry and strong attention to detail
At a minimum, the ideal applicant must have:
- Certificate or associate’s degree in office administration, paralegal studies, or a related field
- At least one (1) year of clerical, office, or administrative support experience
- Substitution: A bachelor’s degree may be used in place of the 1 year of experience

- U.S. citizenship is required as it supports the U.S. federal government

Other Considerations. Applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 100% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.
Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time.
