American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU travel assignment at a Level 3 Trauma acute care hospital in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and AZ or compact RN licensure.
Details- Acute care hospital ICU setting with 12 beds
- Level 3 Trauma designation
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
- Modified self-scheduling with block scheduling available
- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Common cases include pneumonia, ARDS, DKA, sepsis, renal failure, CVA post-tPA, ETOH/OD, AFib with RVR, post-cath care, EVAR, and surgical patients
- Cardiac procedures include Left Heart Caths, Coronary Interventions, STEMIs, IVUS, IFR/FFR, Temporary Pacemaker Insertion, and IABP Insertion
- No open heart surgery, neurosurgery, or fresh transplants
- Ventilator patients present; typically 1–2 vents at all times
- Common drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Levophed, Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Vecuronium, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Insulin, weight-based Heparin, and Norepinephrine
- Equipment used includes GE floor-mounted C-Arm and Table, Volcano System, Change Healthcare Cardiology Hemo System, and Getinge IABP
- Charting via Allscripts EMR
- May float to ED or Med/Surg if experienced
- No on-call requirements
- Active AZ or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Proficiency with basic ICU equipment required
- Experience with arterial lines and common ICU drips required
- Allscripts EMR experience preferred
- BSN not required
- Orientation is 8 hours and held every Monday
- Support staff on unit includes Respiratory Therapists (24/7), Patient Care Technicians, and a Health Unit Secretary
- House Supervisor (Administrative Shift Coordinator) is in-house 24/7
- Nurse manager provides additional patient support when needed
- IABP experience is helpful but not required
- Extensions are typically approved and can be discussed 3–4 weeks before contract end
