American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care facility in Arizona, requiring at least 3 years of L&D experience including C-section care and strong fetal monitoring proficiency.
Details- 13-week contract at an acute care hospital with a Level 3 Trauma designation
- Labor & Delivery unit with 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds averaging 1–3 births per day (~830 births/year)
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Nurses must be able to function in both L&D and couplet care as census demands
- 12-hour shifts available on both day (6a–6p) and night (6p–6a) schedules
- Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required
- One on-call shift per 4-week schedule required
- May float to ED or Med/Surg if experienced
- Orientation held every Monday (8-hour orientation)
- Charting performed in Allscripts EMR
- OB/Neonatologist is not in-house; 24/7 pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy coverage available on unit
- Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Coordinators, and OB scrub techs
- Active AZ RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
- C-section experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (or Advanced) Fetal Monitoring
- NIHSS certification required
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring and clinical response to fetal distress
- Experience managing high-risk OB patients including pre-eclampsia
- Strong independent assessment skills and ability to manage OB emergencies until provider arrival
- No BSN required
- Nurses must be highly proficient in autonomous assessment and emergency response given that OB/Neonatology providers are not in-house
- Responsible for L&D patient care as well as couplet care when census requires
- Extensions are typically available and can be discussed 3–4 weeks prior to contract end
