JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Technician role is to provide service to our commercial HVAC customers.
Requirements- Able to work Monday–Friday with occasional overtime in the afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed. Hours may involve start times as early as 5:00 a.m. Specific project requirements may require afternoon or evening/night shifts.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in the HVAC trade as a commercial service technician.
- High school diploma/GED (experience may be substituted for education).
- Completion of an HVAC Apprenticeship Program and appropriate state licensure (current Journeyman or Master’s License).
- Advanced HVAC Training and Manufacturer’s Training.
- Knowledge of all facets of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning service and installation.
- Competent at diagnosing refrigeration systems, air distribution systems and equipment controls.
- Computer literate (Windows and Microsoft Office); able to adapt to new HVAC interface software.
- Professional demeanor with ability to interface effectively with technicians, vendors, and clients.
- Effective and professional communication with internal and external staff at all levels.
- Possess current, valid driver’s license (not under suspension or limitation).
- Must be able to grip tools and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, bending, crawling, climbing, etc.).
- Able to withstand temperature extremes and exposure to elements (rain, snow, etc.), dust, fumes, heights, and confined spaces.
- Balance, agility, eye-hand coordination, flexibility, depth perception, peripheral vision, and manual dexterity.
- Must be able to differentiate colors and hear adequately.
- Ability to problem solve and analyze situations.
- Listen to the customer’s concerns and evaluate possible solutions based on their needs.
- Diagnose and repair problems accurately and timely.
- Explain to the customer any deficiencies and suggested repairs.
- Gather information to electronically submit quotes to the office from the company vehicle.
- Perform service, repairs, and maintenance in a timely manner.
- Make efficient use of materials, parts, supplies, and company tools.
- Complete all service tickets and other required documents electronically on a daily basis.
- Maintain the minimum suggested personal tools list and all company-provided tools.
- Maintain the work vehicle in a neat, clean manner and perform routine service (oil changes, etc.).
- Make recommendations for ways to improve the department and pursue continuous improvements.
- Provide technical assistance and training to Technicians and Apprentices as needed.
- Solicit and review feedback from customers.
- Perform other tasks and duties as directed by management.
