* POSITION SUMMARY:
** The Water Fitness Instructor provides safe, engaging, and effective aquatic fitness classes for individuals of all ages and fitness levels.
This role offers motivation, encouragement, and instruction while promoting a positive, inclusive YMCA experience.

* ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
*** Leads water fitness classes using a variety of techniques designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, and overall wellness, in accordance with YMCA standards and program goals.
* Prepares and follows structured class plans tailored to the needs and abilities of participants.
* Builds strong, authentic relationships with participants; fosters a supportive community environment and helps connect participants to other YMCA programs.
* Clearly communicates class expectations, modifications, and safety reminders to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for all.
* Maintains class attendance records and other required documentation.
* Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and certification updates as scheduled.
* Ensures the safety of all participants by following YMCA policies and emergency procedures; completes incident and accident reports as needed.
* Sets up and properly stores class equipment; promptly reports any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate staff.
* Supports and mentors’ new instructors, class aides, or volunteers as assigned.## Qualifications

* QUALIFICATIONS:
*** Minimum age of 18 years.
* Must hold a nationally recognized water or group fitness certification.
* Must obtain Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
* The ability to maintain physical fitness and mental focus is required to perform duties.
Physical Demands:
* Must be able to hear noises and recognize distress signals in and around the aquatic environment, including while in the water and within the instructor’s area of responsibility.
* Must remain alert and attentive at all times without lapses in awareness or consciousness.
* Must meet physical strength and mobility requirements, including the ability to lift, move, and set up aquatic equipment as needed.
* Must have the visual ability to observe all areas of the pool and the surrounding deck to ensure participant safety.
