Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Greeting, engaging, and assisting customers actively.
• Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understanding the Point of Sale (POS) system and handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Adhering to the company's cash shortage/overage limits and working to control loss.
• Following guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Following policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Staying current with ads and promotions.
• Adhering to food safety regulations.
• Following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
• Inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
• Creating a welcoming environment for customers and assisting with product questions.
• Complying with all laws and company guidelines.
• Working cooperatively in a high-paced environment and managing conflicts appropriately.
• Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
• Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
