Mathematics Department
Our department has caring, knowledgeable, and approachable faculty committed to helping students successfully gain the mathematical skills they need. We emphasize critical thinking, communication, quantitative reasoning, and problem-solving.
The successful candidate will have the ability to teach our sequence of math courses in multiple modalities. These courses include intermediate algebra, statistics, math in society, precalculus, calculus, business precalculus, business calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. The successful candidate will also be familiar with and excited to teach courses having a co-requisite structure that supports pre-college math within a college-level course.
The successful candidate has the ability and experience to teach the entire sequence of math courses offered in multiple modalities. Courses may include:
* Intermediate Algebra
* Statistics
* Math in Society
* Precalculus
* Calculus
* Differential Equations
* Linear Algebra
* Corequisite courses that provide algebra support for introductory college-level courses
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
* Instruction
* Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved curriculum and course outlines.
* Develop and maintain engaging, inclusive, and accessible learning environments.
* Assess student learning outcomes and provide timely, constructive feedback.
* Curriculum & Academic Development
* Participate in curriculum review, development, and program assessment.
* Integrate current industry trends, technology, and pedagogical best practices.
* Student Support
* Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress and career pathways.
* Maintain regular office hours and respond promptly to student inquiries.
* Professional Engagement
* Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and college-wide initiatives.
* Complete 75 service hours for the College per quarter.
* Engage in professional development to maintain subject matter expertise.
* Community & Institutional Service
* Support outreach, recruitment, and community engagement activities.
* Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative campus culture.
Required
Education and Experience
* Master's degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics OR a Bachelor's in Mathematics with a Master's in Mathematics Education OR a Bachelor's in Mathematics with a Master's in Statistics.
* Experience teaching mathematics in a higher education environment
Knowledge of
* Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems and other appropriate instructional technology
* Current trends in corequisite math support models
* Teaching and developing coursework in a variety of modalities
Skill in
* Crafting assignments that give students insight into mathematical ideas spanning a wide range of levels.
* Multicultural awareness and responsiveness that fosters a climate of equity and belonging
* Communicating effectively
* Flexibility to adapt to a wide range of teaching environments with students of diverse backgrounds and levels of preparation.
* Developing and modifying curricula both independently and collaboratively
* Working effectively with people having a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
Physical Work Environment
The College supports a hybrid operational model, offering both in-person and remote services based on program or area needs. If authorized by the College for remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.
Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.
Term of Employment/Salary
This is a full-time, tenure track position, with a 172-day annual contract beginning September 17, 2026. Salary placement is determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching/work experience combined with educational preparation. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
