Key Responsibilities

Do you want to deliver an excellent standard of service to members of the public involved in road traffic collisions?

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Collisions Process Unit at Shoreham Police Station as a Collisions and Disclosure support officer, a role which helps to keep our roads safe.

Collisions and Disclosure support officers are an important part of our Collision Teams, they work closely with Police Staff and Police Officer colleagues to provide an excellent service to the victims of collisions.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing injury and damage only collision reports , gathering evidence to assist in the investigation, ensuring accurate information is identified and recorded.
  • Reviewing damage only collision files reported at Police station front counters or via the single online home portal and carry out any further enquiries necessary to determine the appropriate disposal of the case notifying all parties of your rationale. This must follow the investigations framework and the THRIVE/NDM principals.
  • Disclosure of Police collision reports in line with civil disclosure and force policies ensuring sensitive information is always redacted as required.
  • Communicating with internal and external customers, including members of the public, solicitors and insurance companies delivering excellent customer service.
Skills & Experience
  • Excellent customer services skills, including written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate information.
  • Confident decision maker, taking cognisance of the investigative framework using the THRIVE/NDM principals.
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity when dealing with sensitive and classified information.
  • Demonstrate understanding of General Data Protection Regulations ( GDPR).
  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • IT literate and able to learn new processes and systems quickly.
  • High level of emotional resilience required, as you will be dealing with distressing and emotive cases involving fatalities and serious injuries.
