The Controls Technician is responsible for focusing on PLC, robotic, and HMI programming, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintaining backup programming and parameters of all automation devices.

• Responsible for implementing and executing solid system for backup of all programs and parameters for all automation devices
• Identify and implement most secure and effective way to store backup programs and associated parameters
• Setup calibration process for automation devices and their control instrumentations
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge and skills by attending training sessions and seminars from major manufacturers of automation equipment and related associations
• Follow company’s health and safety program, rules and procedures and work in compliance with health and safety‑related legislation and codes
• Responsible to report food safety and food quality issues

• Completion of a post‑Secondary Diploma in a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience with manufacturing systems, including PLC‑based control systems and OPC interfaces preferable
• Previous experience working with Industrial Network Protocols (Device Net, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, HART)
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Omron)
• Strong working knowledge of servo motor controls
• Knowledge of the installation, configuration, operation and troubleshooting of route and switched network
• Intermediate‑level knowledge in IEC programming languages (PLC and HMI programming)
• Strong diagnostic, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities
• Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Prior working experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
• Possesses and commits to a high level of personal and ethical responsibility

$36.00 – $40.00/hr
