We are looking to hire an individual as a Wildlife Biologist. This position will be a full-time position; however, we would be willing to entertain other arrangements, such as short-term contracts if we found the right individual. This position offers an interesting variety of office and field work on a diversified range of projects that include biophysical inventories, wildlife surveys, and pre-disturbance nest/wildlife sweeps.

Although the position will be based in Sherwood Park, travel throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia is anticipated. This position will provide a mix of both office and field work.

Responsibilities
  • Complete pre-job safety planning, coordinate access, and lead the collection of field data with a focus on wildlife and wildlife habitat identification.
  • Conduct pre-disturbance nest sweeps, wildlife sweeps, breeding bird surveys, amphibian surveys and salvage, and sharp-tailed grouse surveys.
  • Assist with other biophysical field work, including wetland assessments, and fish and fish habitat assessments.
  • Complete data entry from field surveys and prepare technical reports.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in biology, ecology, environmental science, or natural resource management.
  • Designation as a Professional Biologist (P.Biol.) in Alberta or eligible for designation.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental consulting or wildlife ecology preferred, particularly conducting wildlife surveys.
  • Strong wildlife skills, particularly for identification of birds by both appearance and vocalizations.
  • Experience identifying vegetation and wetlands is beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record is required.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Candidates must be in good physical condition, willing to work in all weather conditions, and for extended periods of time.

The position will be a full-time position out of Sherwood Park and remain open until a suitable candidate is found. A competitive compensation package will be offered corresponding with the candidate’s experience and skills.

Only individuals selected for interviews will be contacted.
