This posting is for 1 temporary full-time position up to 12 months

The Grants Analyst plays an important role in supporting Strathcona County’s financial sustainability and strategic priorities by identifying, securing, and tracking external grant funding. This role is responsible for coordinating grant-related activities across departments, ensuring compliance with grant program requirements, and maintaining centralized systems for grant administration with support from the Financial Resource Advisor. The Grants Analyst will act as a key liaison between Financial Planning and various departments, as well as external funding providers, facilitating effective collaboration on grant-related priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal departments to align grant applications with County priorities and ensure a consistent and strategic approach
  • Research and promote awareness of grant opportunities and provide guidance on application development and submission
  • Maintain the County’s central grants repository ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation
  • Track the progression of grant applications and awards, maintaining detailed records of timelines, deliverables, and reporting obligations
  • Conduct post-submission analysis of unsuccessful grant applications to identify areas for improvement, incorporate feedback, and enhance the quality and competitiveness of future submissions
  • Write and compile high-quality grant applications, ensuring compliance with submission guidelines and deadlines
  • Liaise with external funding organizations to clarify requirements and maintain relationships
  • Monitor grant agreements to ensure adherence to financial, operational, and reporting obligations
  • Support post-award activities, including financial tracking, reporting, and documentation
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for grant-funded projects in collaboration with the Financial Planning team
  • Analyze grant performance and funding trends to inform strategic decision-making
  • Contribute to year-end processes by preparing supporting documentation related to grants
Qualificationsand

Skills:
  • Post‑secondary degree in a related field with at least 3 years of experience
  • CPA designation or GPC/GPCI certification completed or in progress is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of municipal or provincial legislation and Public Sector Accounting Standards
  • Experience in financial accounting, budgeting, reporting, strategic analysis, risk assessment, and issue resolution
  • Excellent communication skills for providing clear recommendations to senior leaders
  • Experience in municipal government is considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness
  • Effective organizational, time management, and multi‑tasking skills to manage multiple deadlines and complete work within restricted timelines while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
