The Chimo Family Wellness program is delivered in partnership between Chimo Youth Retreat and the Edmonton Region Child and Family Services. Using the Collaborative Service Delivery (CSD) model, the program provides a continuum of services to improve the outcomes for children, youth, and families in our region.

The Family Wellness Coaching Team is involved in providing in‑vivo support within the home, placement or community and provides hands‑on guidance to parenting and building safety when children are in care. Integral components of this in‑vivo support includes Family Time (formerly supervised visits), therapeutic Youth Work, in‑home family support, transportation, along with other important and intentional ancillary services that are provided to many of the children, youth and families the program serves.

The coach team lead responsibilities are outlined below.

Education, Credentials and Requirements:
  • Requires a diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related humanities field of study. A degree is considered an asset to this position.
  • This position also requires the ability to drive for the purpose of work, which includes the following:
    Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, clean 3 year driving abstract, and a minimum of 3 years driving experience with continuous insurance with no “at fault” claims.
  • Vehicle insurance with a minimum of $2 million liability and business use coverage
  • A clear and current (within 6 months) Criminal Records Check and Children Services Intervention Record Check
  • Training in First Aid, Suicide Intervention and Crisis Intervention
  • Minimum two years’ experience working front line with families in a human services position.
  • Supervisory/team lead experience is also considered an asset.
FW Coach Team Lead

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a 37.5‑hour weekly schedule aligned with program operational needs, which may include in person daytime, evening, and weekend family time shifts. In consultation with the Associate Manager, schedules two days off within the Monday to Sunday work week. The Coach Team Lead is required to work a minimum of one Saturday and one Sunday per month to provide leadership, check‑ins, and observations for coaches working weekend shifts.
  • Provide leadership, orientation, training and scheduling to our Family Wellness Coaches in collaboration with site supervisors, and in conjunction with the Associate Manager.
  • Participates in “in-care” case consults to provide team with current family time capacity, planning, and initial availability/schedule.
  • Provides direct oversight and completes in person family time during a file’s initial 2‑to‑5‑week period (assessment period) post children coming into care, which at minimum includes developing a family time schedule and facilitating in‑person family time for the period.
  • During the initial family time “assessment period”, observe, document and analyze the needs of the children and parents. Within 5 weeks of a child/children coming into care, book and facilitate a Service Team meeting to present findings from family time observations and provide recommendations for the ongoing family time schedule in conjunction with the team’s reunification trajectory. Provide insight into experience with assessment family time to the service team and support matching of full‑time wellness coach to family for ongoing supports.
  • Build positive relationships and work collaboratively with families, Children’s Services partners, community stakeholders, and Chimo staff.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, monthly team meetings, and participate in program vision planning.
  • Contribution to program development and changes as required.
  • Support the team in scheduling and coordinating shift plans and family work.
  • Support administrative tasks as required.
