Student Minister

Leads and disciples middle school and high school students by proclaiming the gospel, fostering spiritual growth, and equipping students to live on mission within the church, their schools, and the community. This role provides vision, pastoral care, event planning, and strategic leadership for a Christ-centered, relational, and disciple-making student ministry.

Full-time;
Exempt

• Bachelor’s degree or willingness to pursue further education
• 3+ years related experience

• Committed follower of Christ
• Passion for students to know and love God
• Servant leader
• Clear calling to ministry
• Meet the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:5-9
• Able to follow through and complete tasks
• Able to motivate and inspire student and adult leaders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to administrate, delegate and prioritize responsibilities
• Executes appropriate judgment and confidentiality
• Being a member of FBC Sherman in good standing
• Doctrinally agree with the BFM

  • Oversee Student Ministry budget
  • Manage projects
  • Assist other staff in project planning and execution
• Equipping
  • Pour the love of Christ into adult leaders and parents and build relationships
  • Train and equip student ministry leaders
  • Partner with and equip parents to make disciples of their students
• Pastoral
  • Prepare relevant, age-appropriate messages for the students
  • Reach out to first-time guests through calls and letters
  • Make hospital visits
  • Attend school performances, lunches and special events
  • Share the hope of Christ with lost and un-churched students
  • Share the Gospel and teach from God’s Word
  • Strategize how to be the most effective in our given mission field
  • Reach out to the community
  • Teach God’s Word
  • Disciple students to spiritual maturity
  • Connect with students in everyday lives
  • Equip students to be missionaries and to find their God-given purpose
  • Any other duties as assigned
