Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
Our policy offers a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with flexible options for 12‑hour weeks.
We provide 3‑week notice of shift timing, and you can request a schedule that best fits your availability.
About the roleAs the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver customer orders across the region. Your responsibilities involve building customer trust, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and adhering to safety and service standards.
Availability windows:
- Sunday 08:00 – 19:00
- Tuesday 18:00 – 23:00
- Wednesday 18:00 – 23:00
- Friday 18:00 – 23:00
- Ensure the van and trays are clean and organized.
- Keep the back yard tidy and pick up litter.
- Perform tray washing as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van and check for roadworthiness.
- Communicate changes to customers, manage substitutions, and offer refunds for unsatisfactory items.
- Handle products and deliveries with care.
- Explain that customers are not charged for substitutions.
- Deliver during the customer's time slot.
- Call customers before arrival if arriving early.
- Contact the store if running 30+ minutes late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit.
- Display warmth and professionalism in customer and colleague interactions.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change.
- Remain energetic and driven, integrating home and work for a balanced life.
- Share improvement ideas with managers and colleagues.
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) with at least 12 months experience and no more than 3 penalty points.
