American Consultants is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel ICU/CCU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team in Shelton, WA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide specialized critical care nursing services across various hospital settings, including intensive care units and cardiac care units, on a travel basis. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care environments, demonstrating proficiency in advanced patient assessment, complex medical procedures, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

As a Travel ICU/CCU RN, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, ensuring safety, and supporting healthcare teams during periods of staffing fluctuations or specialized needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU and CCU settings, including those requiring ventilator support, cardiac monitoring, and invasive procedures.
  • Perform detailed patient assessments, monitor vital signs continuously, and interpret physiological data to inform treatment plans.
  • Administer medications accurately, including IV infusions and injections, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Manage airway maintenance, ventilator management, and perform advanced life support interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document patient progress meticulously within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Assist with procedures like catheterizations, suturing, and specimen collection while maintaining strict infection control standards.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, post-discharge care, and health promotion strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and accreditation standards such as NCQA standards.
  • Adapt quickly to diverse clinical environments across different hospital settings while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of or appropriate licensing for travel assignments.
  • Minimum of two years of recent ICU or CCU experience within a hospital environment;
    Level I or Level II trauma center experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of critical care procedures including ventilator management, IV infusion therapy, airway management, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Experience working with complex patient populations such as those requiring dialysis, post-operative cardiac care, or infectious disease management.
  • Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments accurately; familiarity with laboratory testing and diagnostic evaluation processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across diverse clinical settings.
  • Certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are required.
  • Flexibility to travel between assignments; valid driver’s license preferred but not mandatory.
