Working Hours:
8 hours/day, Monday‑Friday, 180 days per school year (including paid holidays). Working schedule:
September – June, with occasional additional hours as scheduled.
The ECEAP Teacher/Family Advocate is responsible for developing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, engaging families through center conferences and home visits, and ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment for children.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans using program‑approved curricula in collaboration with co‑teacher, classroom team, and/or education manager, to optimize each child’s development.
- Engage in positive interactions with children, enriching and maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment.
- Monitor children in indoor and outdoor activities (lunch, snack, rest periods, group or individual play) to provide a safe learning environment.
- Direct teacher assistants, classroom aides, community volunteers, and other staff to maximize efficiency and meet work requirements.
- Advise staff, classroom teams, and families on child needs, observations, and changes in family situations to develop improvement methods and reinforce classroom goals.
- Assess each child’s developmental level, document progress, and work with families to identify focus areas.
- Act as a support and resource person for families, case‑managing specific needs, advocating for families, enhancing parenting skills, and encouraging family engagement.
- Conduct and document formal family‑focused center conferences and home visits, providing information and resources to families.
- Implement Mobility Mentoring with assigned families and meet required deadlines.
- Contribute to team efforts, defining and clarifying roles and expectations with coworkers and cooperating with program staff to maintain quality.
- Interact with children, families, and co‑workers positively.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrate methods required to perform activities for the purpose of an effective program and addressing individual student needs.
- Participate in various on‑site and off‑site program activities (family staffing, staff training, planning, communication, evaluation, etc.).
- Attend educational workshops, seminars, in‑services, and ongoing evaluation processes to maintain professional knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate Degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education or closely related field; OR completion of degree within five years of hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years’ experience working with young children in early childhood programs (ECEAP, Head Start, or state Pre‑K).
- Experience using Microsoft Programs (Outlook).
- Preferred:
Bilingual (Spanish, other language). - DCYF Portable Background Check.
- Proof of a recent negative TB test.
- Infant/Child CPR/First Aid certification.
- Food handler’s card.
- Participation in assigned initial and ongoing professional development.

- Hourly wage: $22.62 – $27.65, depending on qualifications.
- $1.00/hr wage enhancement for regular use of Spanish; $0.50/hr for regular use of a third language.
