Position: Maintenance Technician (Sun-Thurs, 2nd Shift)

Our client is a very large employer in the Fairfield County, New Haven County line. They have over 300 employees and are a plastics manufacturer. The company has a 24/7 operation with a lot of stability and growth opportunity. Many of their employees are highly tenured. They are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician.

Pay Rate: $26-$30 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Installs and repairs of leaking pipes, clogged pipes and air lines, etc., as well as electrical and lighting fixtures.
  • Performs light welding and carpentry duties.
  • Performs seasonal duties regarding grounds keeping, including snow removal.
  • Maintains and installs facility‑related equipment, such as compressors, tower water systems, heating and A/C system, elevators, lifts, exhaust fan units.
  • Maintains and installs production‑related equipment, such as tow motors, grinders, dust collectors, stretch wrap machines, gantries, trolleys, and hoists.
  • Maintains company vehicles.
  • Carries beeper for 24‑hour access in case of emergency maintenance of air compressors, boiler, and furnace; on‑call for seven‑day period on a six‑week rotating basis; may have to work a holiday if downtime provided; must be able to work occasional overtime.
  • Misc. Duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Candidate must have electrical experience 480V or close manufacturing machine maintenance background plus troubleshooting skills.
  • Mechanical Background Hydraulic Experience would be helpful electrical experience is a plus but not a must have.
  • Logical reasoning:
    Ability to understand instructions and troubleshoot problems. Ability to work independently from blueprints, work orders, and schematics.
  • Mathematical:
    Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Technical:
    Knowledge of auto mechanics. Ability to operate a plow truck. Ability to perform occasional work from ladders at heights above 10′. Ability to use electronic testing equipment and meters.
  • Technological:
    Computer experience is a plus.

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Eight years of related experience and/or training is preferred. Certificates in welding, boiler repair, electronics, auto repair, and related fields a plus. Technical school and/or degree a plus. Must possess and maintain a CT driver’s license.

Schedule: Sun – Thurs 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
