Join us for our summer school program! We are looking for a Summer School Coordinator (Secondary) is who is ready to inspire, challenge, and connect with students during our Summer Program. Please apply by March 10th, 2026 for best consideration.

Training Date:
June 20th, 2026

Dates:
Summer School Dates: 6/22/2026 - 7/23/2026; (Monday through Thursday, no summer school on Fridays). Start date will be as soon as possible to prepare for planning for the Summer Program.

Hours:

Hours will vary. Estimated up to 6 hours per week from March 2026 to the end of the school year for planning. During Summer Program, 6.5 hours per day. 8 hours after summer program ends to complete reporting requirements and pack materials.

Salary: $12,000 stipend

Overview

Summer School Coordinator provides leadership and coordination of district-wide summer 9-12 programming in Pre-Algebra and Credit Recovery. Working under limited supervision, the coordinator will prepare for summer program, provide administrative oversight, monitor program outcomes, and analyze the effectiveness of the program..

Requirements

* Must be a current Shelton School District Teacher or Administrator.

* Related experience and must possess valid teaching certificate.

* Administrator Certification preferred.

* Ability to use technology for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and communications.

* Knowledge of research and best practices in teaching struggling students, and familiarity with grade level standards and curriculum.

* Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written forms to a variety of audiences, train/coach teachers in the effective implementation of summer interventions, assess and report student progress in various content areas, and communicate with parents and families regarding summer school issues.

* Possession of a positive attitude.

* Ability to collaborate with peers and administration.

* Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with other staff, students, and families.

* Regular attendance required.

* Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Essential Functions

* Develop and disseminate summer school communications.

* Supervise and evaluate performance of summer school certificated and classified staff.

* Provide orientation and training to summer school staff to ensure a safe, healthy, productive learning environment, including training on procedures for emergencies and/or crisis response.

* Oversee planning in collaboration with certificated staff and the Teaching and Learning Department.

* Manage student attendance and discipline.

* Regularly monitor classroom activities to ensure alignment to standards and district-provided resources.

* Coordinate baseline assessment data and monitor student progress and achievement.

* Work with building staff to identify students who qualify for summer school services and facilitate communication with classroom teachers, tribal tutors, and families to enroll eligible students.

* Schedule students in appropriate classes.

* Work with Transportation Department to arrange transportation for summer school eligible students.

* Work with Food Service Department to arrange summer feeding program at summer school site.

* Work with maintenance staff regarding facilities issues.

* Coordinate with Skokomish and Squaxin Island tribal education managers to facilitate access to online summer school courses via tribal education centers.

* Performs other duties as assigned.
