Position: Assistant Principal - Pool (K-12)

Posting Information:
We are currently hiring for Assistant Principals (K-12) for the  school year. For best consideration, please apply by April 1st, 2026. The District reserves the right to interview and make hiring decisions at any time.

Interview Process:
If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview, which should be completed within 48 hours of the invitation for best consideration. Candidates chosen for a second round interview will participate in an in-person hiring event which will be hosted on March 5th, 2026 and March 25th, 2026.

Schedule:

215 days per school year, 8 hours per day, M-F

Salary: $146,610-$171,125, depending on experience and building assignment. This salary range applies to Assistant Principal positions across Elementary through Secondary levels and reflects the  school year. Salary ranges will be updated once  salary schedule is finalized.

FLSA Status:
Exempt

Benefits: 12 sick leave days; 6 personal leave days; 5 bereavement leave days per occurrence; $1,500 annual professional development allotment, AWSP membership, health insurance including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance for employee and eligible dependents administered by the School Employees Benefits Board; retirement administered by the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems; other fringe benefits as allowed by School Board Policy and Procedures and the Shelton Certificated Administrators Agreement.

Overview

Shelton School District Assistant Principals will support the strategic plan for Shelton School District and implementation of the School Improvement Plan. They work collaboratively with staff and other administrators to develop and maintain a safe and welcoming environment where students excel both academically and personally.

Requirements

* Washington State certificate with a principal endorsement.

* At least five years successful teaching experience.

* Elementary or secondary administrative experience (preferred, not required).

* Successful experience in leaderships roles.

* Demonstrated school district and community involvement.

* Demonstrated skills in program development and evaluation, staff supervision and evaluation, fiscal management, staff development, human relations, assessment, and technology utilization.

* Demonstrated managerial skills of planning to include participatory and collaborative planning and decision making, organizing, delegating and listening.

* Training and/or experience in leadership, restructuring, assessment and evaluation process.

* Demonstrates high energy, professional involvement, and facilitator abilities.

* Desire to continue career improvement.

* An understanding of effective leadership and an ability to use leadership skills that allow for positive, effective change in Shelton School District.

* Ability to develop and sustain focus on a shared mission and clear vision for improvement for the Shelton School District.

* Ability to plan, organize, and implement daily and long-term operations and goals.

* Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing Washington State public schools.

* Ability to use data to drive planning and decision making.

* Demonstrated ability to connect with staff, students, families, and community members in a mutually respectful, supportive, and accessible manner.

* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff as a team to accomplish goals as well as work independently.

* Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, students, families, and the community.
