Olympic College is continuously recruiting English Adjunct Faculty (part-time) to primarily teach composition and research courses at its Shelton Campus. Olympic College seeks applicants who are dedicated to student-centered learning, closing achievement gaps, supporting diversity and social justice learning opportunities, and who employ data-informed decision-making in their instruction.
A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region.
Responsibilities- Teach primarily English composition course(s) in accordance with college catalog, use agreed-upon course outlines, develop course syllabi in alignment with English
101 and 102 Student Learning Outcomes and to departmental guidelines. - Teach day and evening classes in person located on Shelton campus.
- Teach in person and/or hybrid composition courses.
- Provide quality teaching including related preparation, grading, and record-keeping for assigned classes.
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day and to the division office by the 10th day of each quarter.
- Contribute to English Assessment efforts as needed. Respond to students queries in a timely fashion.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs;
- Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators;
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
- Master s degree (MA) in English from an accredited college or university
- College teaching experience
- Must be available to teach during the day and in person
- Experience teaching Developmental Composition
- MFW or PhD in English
- Deliver instructional course content with excitement and enthusiasm;
- Use a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success;
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their career;
- Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement;
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds as well as military veterans;
- Support diversity in higher education through application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voice, as well as by contributing through actions;
- Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation;
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate;
- Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities;
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships;
- Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team;
- Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services, including use of the College-approved learning management system.
- Uphold Olympic College s values and ethics necessary to maintain a positive climate.

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.
Final salary contract will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits.
