Your New JobJob Summary
Warehouse Managers are responsible for overseeing operations at multiple storage yards and warehouse facilities. They will hire, manage, and train Warehouse and Facilities Personnel, assigning work and assessing their performance. They are responsible for ensuring the safe and secure storage of a range of items and the operations surrounding their organization and retrieval.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)- Hires, manages, and trains warehouse and yard personnel.
- Ensures all warehouse personnel follow company policies and procedures.
- Ensures adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations.
- Organizes and leads warehouse training.
- Certified to train personnel on operating a forklift.
- Reads specification sheets and prints for job bids to get price quotes on materials as needed.
- Researches vendors and negotiate prices to get the lowest price possible.
- Purchases materials, tools, etc.
- Schedules deliveries and pickups.
- Perform and schedule facility maintenance as necessary.
- Performs weekly and monthly inventory reports and analysis of usage.
- Produce lessons learned and communicate with the Safety Committee.
- Disburse safety equipment including fall protection system devices, safety glasses, ear protection, hard hats, safety vests, etc.
- Daily check-ins with foreman to determine any tooling or materials needed for the following days work and have items ready for pick up to eliminate delays in dispatch the next morning and or assign runner to fill the order and assist loading.
- May be required to dispatch to yard to respond to after-hours alarms / thefts / emergencies.
- Maintains yards and warehouses: stocked, clean, and functioning smoothly.
- Clean up any oil spills, drips, and any slipping hazards immediately.
- Assist teams as needed.
- Other duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications General
- Working knowledge of utility and General Construction.
- Ability to manage and train crews.
- Ability to use computer equipment and related software (Excel, Word, Computer Ease, etc.)
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written).
- Must possess excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical publications, financial & inventory reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to calculate figures, discounts, percentages, cubic yards, etc.
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively read and write business letters, technical procedures, governmental regulations, reports, etc.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, employees, and public groups.
- Ability to work with confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to do statistical analysis, budget forecasts and functions, and technical analysis.
- Ability to train Yard Laborers in all required job duties and responsibilities.
- Must be a self-starter and internally motivated to achieve corporate, department, and personal objectives.
- Daily and exemplary attendance and punctuality is required for this position. The work may require overtime.
- Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
- Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear.
- OSHA 30
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- DOT Medical Card
- Forklift Certification
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management is preferred.
