Overview

Position:
Cashier / Head Cashier at The Home Depot. Cashiers provide fast, friendly, accurate and safe service, process checkout and/or return transactions, and monitor the Self-Checkout area. They proactively seek product knowledge to assist customers and identify selling opportunities, and follow policies and procedures to minimize shrink. A Head Cashier supports Cashiers by expediting price checks, approving Point of Sale transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.

They provide first level escalation for customer issues and assist in supervision, coaching and training of Front End Associates.

The preferred qualification for a Head Cashier is 1+ years of cashier experience.

• Process Checkout and/or Return transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area.
• Seek product/project knowledge to inform customers and identify selling opportunities.
• Follow all policies and procedures to ensure shrink is minimized.
• As a Head Cashier, position Cashiers and support them by expediting price checks, approving POS transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
• Provide first level escalation for customer issues.
• Assist in supervision, coaching and training of Front End Associates; participate in training new Cashiers and using available tools to coach and develop others.

• Preferred qualification: 1+ years of cashier experience.
