Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE
Our client is a leading environmental consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality ecological and sustainability services across the UK. With a growing presence in the North, they are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their Sheffield office and take a senior role in delivering complex and high-profile projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced ecologist to lead projects, provide technical guidance, and influence how ecology shapes development across a range of sectors.

Role Overview
You will be responsible for leading projects from start to finish, combining fieldwork, technical oversight, and client liaison. You will ensure ecological best practice is embedded across every stage of the project and mentor junior ecologists to support their development.
Key responsibilities:
Leading habitat and protected species surveys, PEAs, and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs)
Designing and implementing mitigation and biodiversity enhancement strategies
Producing, reviewing, and approving high-quality ecological reports
Acting as a trusted ecological advisor to clients, planners, and multidisciplinary project teams
Mentoring junior ecologists and supporting their professional growth
Requirements
Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline
Proven experience in ecological consultancy, with a strong project delivery record
Sound knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and survey techniques
Experience managing projects and client relationships
Protected species licences (bats, GCN, etc.) are highly desirable
Full UK driving licence
