KITCHEN/CATERING ASSISTANT – CYGNET SHEFFIELD

We are looking for an outstanding Kitchen Assistant who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference. You’ll be working full‑time 32 hours a week at The Fields, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

The Fields is a specialist residential service in Sheffield, South Yorkshire for adults with learning disabilities who may have behaviours that challenge as well as associated complex needs. We encourage and enable the individuals we support to lead a full and happy life, ensuring they have more choice and control in their lives by finding out their strengths, abilities and preferences so that the care provided can be as person‑centred and meaningful as possible.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
  • Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks and other kitchen duties.
  • Wash utensils, dishes and ensure they are stored appropriately.
  • Sort, store and distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic.
  • Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures.
  • Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
Qualifications
  • Passionate about catering, preferably with experience within a care setting.
  • Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
  • Polite and professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
  • Excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
  • Able to work on own initiative and under supervision.
  • Diligent and take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
