OverviewThis 12-month post is associated with an EPSRC grant led by Imperial College. The grant is titled “The effect of hip muscles on knee pain” and involves development of a multi-body model of the hip and knee to evaluate the mechanics of the iliotibial band – which acts as a link between the hip and knee. We aim to develop novel models that represent the laboratory-based simulation of the hip and knee, conducted at Imperial College, before creating new subject-specific models using a forward-dynamics approach to predict the effect of variation in hip muscle strength on the iliotibial band mechanics under a range of daily activities.
MainDuties And Responsibilities
- Utilising Open Sim software, adapt and develop new multibody models of the lower limb, under the supervision of members of the project’s academic team (Claire Brockett)
- Lead the delivery of aspects of the project assigned to you; liaising with the team at Imperial College to obtain relevant data inputs for model development
- Liaise with collaborators to help disseminate research outputs.
- Present the work at national conferences and meetings.
- Prioritize activities to achieve objectives agreed with the supervisors and project sponsors.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant literature.
- Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
