Position: Cast Central Operative (Permanent)
We are looking for motivated and reliable Cast Central Operatives to join our growing manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in producing high-quality components.

Cast Central Operative Benefits

Starting Rate: £13.51 per hour + 12.5% shift allowance (£15.20)

Location:

Sheffield, S9

Hours:

37.5 hours per week - Days and Afters rotating - 4 day week

Shifts:

Days - Monday to Wednesday - 9.5 hours, starting 6am, until 4pm & Thursday - 9 hours, starting 6am, until 3.30pm/Afters - Monday to Wednesday - 9.5 hours - 12 noon to 10pm & Thursday - 9 hours, starting 12 noon to 10pm

Role Overview :

Working as part of the Cast Central department, you will be involved in a range of production processes including shelling, casting, cutting, and grinding, ensuring all parts meet the dimensional specifications required by our customers.

Cast Central Operative Duties:

Carry out a variety of production tasks including shelling, casting, cutting and grinding components
Inspect parts using tools such as calipers and go/no-go gauges
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area
Identify and report faulty equipment or materials
Follow work orders and production instructions
Complete weekly housekeeping and safety checks
Work collaboratively within a large production team

Cast Central Operative

Key Responsibilities:

Dewax Operations

De-wax and fire moulds following work instructions
Load and unload tracks safely and input parameters into systems
Select and control raw materials correctly
Complete all relevant documentation

Mould Inspection

Inspect moulds for cracks and shell defects
Patch, leak test and wash moulds where required
Establish charge weights and prepare moulds for casting
Load trolleys according to the cast plan Cleaning Operations

Cut off product to required standards
Segregate scrap correctly
Maintain mould batch traceability
Carry out operations such as knock-out, blasting, grinding, cut-off and visual inspection
Strong teamwork and positive attitude
Good attention to detail and quality standards
Commitment to health & safety procedures
Reliable timekeeping and attendance
Ability to work in a manual, production-based environment
