Elevation Recruitment are working with a highly reputable manufacturing business based in Sheffield, who are looking to recruit a Forge Press Operative to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a precision-focused environment where quality, safety, and continuous improvement are at the heart of operations.
Overview of the RoleTo safely set up, control, and operate forging presses through dummy, intermediate, and finish blows. The role will also involve operating and interfacing with both gas-fired and electric furnaces to heat billets and components to specified forging temperatures, ensuring accuracy, consistent production output, and full compliance with quality and health & safety standards.
Shift PatternMonday - Thursday
Mornings: 6:00am - 2:00pm
Afternoons: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Early finish on Fridays
Morning: 6:00am - 12:00pm
Afternoon: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Setting, operating, and monitoring forge press equipment
Operating gas and electric furnaces to heat materials in line with process requirements
Carrying out routine pre-use checks on presses, furnaces, tooling, and dies
Producing forged components in line with work instructions, SOPs, and strict quality standards
Achieving output and efficiency targets within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Monitoring press and furnace operations to ensure product quality and process consistency
Identifying faults, defects, or equipment issues and escalating where required
Supporting continuous improvement activities across the production area
Maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times
Previous experience operating forge presses or heavy press machinery within a manufacturing environment
Experience using gas and/or electric furnaces within a manufacturing or forging environment
A strong understanding of safe working practices in high-force and high-temperature processes
Excellent attention to detail, particularly within regulated industries
Experience working to production targets and quality standards
A proactive, reliable approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
