We're seeking a passionate and driven Project Officer to lead and deliver sport, leisure, and physical activity improvement projects across Sheffield. This is your opportunity to support healthier, more active communities and contribute to the city's vibrant future.

About the Role
  • Lead the development and implementation of impactful projects that improve the lives of Sheffield residents.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of partners, including internal teams, councillors, external organisations, funders, and community groups.
  • Play a key role in raising quality standards, ensuring sustainability, and meeting the diverse needs of our communities.
  • Be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team committed to professional development and positive change.
  • Provide project management, coordination, and delivery for a range of sport, leisure, and physical activity projects.
  • Develop business cases and project plans, ensuring alignment with Sheffield City Council's systems and strategies.
  • Act as a client lead, preparing briefs, managing consultants and contractors, and overseeing on-site delivery.
  • Secure funding, develop bids, and support partner organisations in enhancing Sheffield's sport and leisure offer.
  • Engage with stakeholders, local committees, elected members, and community partners to ensure projects are viable, sustainable, and meet service objectives.
  • Collect and analyse data, monitor progress, and contribute to service and business planning.
  • Manage and support staff as required, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Represent the Partnerships, Sport and Health Team within the Council and with external organisations, including occasional evening and weekend work.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in project management and delivery, ideally within sport, leisure, or physical activity sectors.
  • Strong organisational, coordination, and partnership working skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a commitment to customer-focused service.
  • Experience in securing funding and managing budgets.
  • Ability to lead and support staff, and to work flexibly to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and the Council's core values.
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of sport, physical activity, and leisure development projects.
