Role
Temporary Maintenance Engineer (6-month contract)
Salary£30,000
LocationSheffield
Hours40 hours per week (or 32 hours over 4 days)
Responsibilities Operational & Maintenance Coordination- Develop and maintain TPM / PPM systems for key plant, equipment and premises.
- Carry out weekly PPM maintenance / inspections and minor repairs.
- Maintain stock levels of spare parts and tools.
- Participate in operational, health & safety and environmental meetings.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety rules, risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Support incident reporting and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Respond to incoming enquiries from suppliers and contractors, processing them efficiently.
- Assess job requirements and dispatch engineers or subcontractors in line with SLAs.
- Issue and monitor permits to work for all contractors attending site.
- Diagnose internal maintenance requests and raise works orders via the FM system.
- Maintain clear and accurate progress notes within the FM system.
- Report daily to relevant team members and maintain strong internal communication.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to request goods / services as needed.
- Report PPM defects to clients clearly, effectively and with appropriate urgency.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, managers, external contractors and clients.
- Liaise with staff, contractors and suppliers to ensure accurate information is stored within the TPM system.
- Update TPM systems with contract information, service records, inspection records and statutory documents.
- Maintain up-to-date asset registers.
- Prepare management reports as required.
- Administer approved supplier processes and update systems accordingly.
- Attend team meetings and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Attend and complete mandatory training and development courses.
- Work in line with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building regulations and approved codes of practice.
- Keep updated on all matters relating to internal policies.
- Provide supervision where required.
- Undertake any other duties as delegated by the line manager.
- Maintenance engineering experience (desirable).
- IT literate with willingness to learn new systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong influencing and persuasion skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Excellent time management and organisational capabilities.
- Flexible to work outside core hours when required.
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
