OpenShift SME

Our client is looking for an Open Shift SME to join their team on a contract initially until the end of November, working three days a week onsite in Sheffield and the rest remote. This role is Inside IR35.

• Own Open Shift cluster lifecycle:
  Day 0 provisioning, Day 1 configuration, and Day 2 operations.
• Plan and execute platform upgrades, patching, and version compatibility management (OCP/RHCOS/Operators).
• Implement and maintain platform security controls (RBAC, SCC, network policies, image governance, compliance baselines).
• Build and maintain automation using Ansible, Git Ops (ArgoCD/Open Shift Git Ops), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Open Tofu).
• Manage and optimise Open Shift networking (OVN‑Kubernetes, Multus, ingress/egress, load balancer integration).
• Manage storage integration and lifecycle (Storage Class, CSI drivers, provisioning, performance tuning).
• Integrate Open Shift with enterprise services (DNS, NTP, LDAP/AD/OIDC, PKI/certificates, monitoring, logging, Service Now).

• Bachelor's degree/Diploma/B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech/M.Sc in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 12+ years in Linux/platform engineering, with 3+ years of hands‑on Open Shift/Kubernetes operations in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience operating production Open Shift clusters at scale.

• Strong hands‑on expertise in Open Shift (cluster install/configuration, Operators, upgrades, troubleshooting).
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes concepts (scheduling, networking, storage, security, controllers, CRDs).
• Hands‑on experience with Kube Virt/Open Shift Virtualization, including VM provisioning, lifecycle operations (start/stop/migrate/snapshot), storage/network integration, and performance troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux administration skills (RHEL/RHCOS), shell scripting, and system troubleshooting.
• Experience with automation and IaC tools:
  Ansible, Terraform/Open Tofu, Git Ops (ArgoCD/Open Shift Git Ops).
• Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, logging/tracing platforms).
• Working knowledge of enterprise identity/security integrations (LDAP/AD, OIDC, certificates, secrets management).
• Familiarity with container security practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., CIS benchmarks, vulnerability management).
• Good understanding of storage and networking in container platforms (CSI/CNI, ingress, load balancing).
