We are a team of around 200+ people distributed globally and are engaged in a wide array of projects touching all business units (Institutional Securities, Investment Management, Wealth Management) and functions (e.g. Operations, Finance, Risk, Trading, Treasury, Resilience) across the Firm.

The team vision is a multi-year effort to simplify firm’s data architecture and business processes front-to-back with goals of reducing infrastructure and manpower costs, improving the ability to demonstrate control of data, empowering developers by providing consistent means of handling data, facilitate data-driven insights & decision making.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The DevX (Developer Experience) Standards and Controls team is a newly forming part of the wider CTO organisation.

We aim to improve development teams experience of abiding by and consuming Technology controls.

API standards are a new set of requirements on all teams that expose APIs outside of their applications. This role is to refine and own a set of standards for APIs. The role is then to work with a large set of customers to understand their challenges in meeting these. Linked to this this role will then work with a set of engineering teams this role will integrate, evolve and streamline a product and set of applications into a coherent user journey for our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be a pro-active, collaborative and inquisitive member of the DevX Standards and Controls leadership team. This role supports the head of Standards and Controls directly:

This role will:

Understand and enhance the standards in collaboration with various stakeholders.

Lead/facilitate product planning and prioritisation to deliver towards a future vision for where API standards go and how the tooling aligns to this.

Align and communicate roadmaps for the product to the customers

Run customer forums for API standards

Ensure that the customer is being thought about at the centre of new work and transitions

Champion the usage of data and metrics to improve understanding of what customers are doing on the products

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE REQUIRE

Development team leadership experience

Product ownership, product planning, roadmap planning

Experience of working in a control environment or with Technology controls

Experience in working within an global organisation and globally distributed development teams

Communicating ideas, views, and concerns effectively and respectfully and actively participates in exchanges of ideas with others

Ability to develop effective networks by seeking out opportunities for collaboration

Required
  • Strong understanding of setting and designing controls and standards

  • A desire to do what’s right for the bank not just what is the easiest way out

  • Strong technical knowledge; particularly of APIs and API development

  • Ability to lead and guide teams

  • Ability to co-ordinate multiple moving parts and define a coherent strategy

Nice-to-have
  • Developed APIs or worked in API teams

  • Inventory and asset management knowledge

  • Product ownership
