Are you an experienced Payroll Manager looking for an exciting new challenge? We're partnering with a dynamic, progressive company based on the outskirts of Preston
, offering the opportunity to take the lead in a fast‑paced and supportive environment. You will join a friendly, close‑knit team where your payroll expertise will be highly valued, working hands on in this varied and responsible role.
- Oversee the processing of weekly/monthly full end-to-end payroll processing via Sage 50
- Prepare and check payroll data, ensuring accuracy for starters, leavers, salary updates, sickness/holiday absence and any deductions.
- Deal with pension contributions ensuring compliance with the Pension Regulator's guidelines.
- Liaise with the HMRC for payroll/tax code queries, submitting (RTI) returns to HMRC in a timely manner.
- Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries, resolving discrepancies in a timely and effective, polite manner, ensuring clear communication at all levels.
- Produce payroll reports for management as required and provision of payroll data for audits.
- Be system and procedure focussed, ensuring smooth functionality of payroll systems, ensuring efficiency and suggesting improvements.
- Integration of payroll with time & attendance systems.
- Update payroll policies/operational procedures to ensure effective compliance, keeping and maintaining up-to-date payroll legislative changes.
- Conduct regular HMRC compliance audits
- Work in partnership with both HR/Finance divisions ensuring departmental alignment for employee policies and benefits.
Required:
- Experience working hands‑on within a high‑volume payroll processing role for c 2‑3yrs+ within a fast‑paced payroll environment.
- Solid understanding and expertise of processing payrolls coupled with a sound knowledge of all current legislation/compliance requirements.
- Experience with ideally Sage 50 Payroll (training can be provided) and Excel
- Strong organisation, attention to detail with analytical skills.
- Professional and personable disposition.
- Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Able to work to deadlines, prioritising workload in a fast paced environment.
