As an HR Consultant
, you’ll act as a trusted partner to SME clients, delivering high-quality, hands‑on HR advice across the full generalist remit. You’ll support everything from day‑to‑day HR queries to complex employee relations cases, organisational change, and the development of robust HR frameworks.
You’ll also play a key role in building long‑term client relationships and contributing to the commercial success of the consultancy, without a hard sales culture.
Client Partnership- Acting as the primary HR contact for a portfolio of SME clients
- Building strong, trusted relationships through clear, responsive communication
- Leading regular client review meetings and identifying opportunities to add value
- Supporting contract renewals and promoting relevant HR and training services
- Providing expert, practical advice on UK employment law and HR best practice
- Managing complex ER cases end to end, including attendance at formal meetings
- Drafting and updating contracts, policies, and employee handbooks
- Delivering engaging HR and people management training sessions
- Adapting content to different audiences and learning styles
- Spotting opportunities for additional learning and development support
- Supporting HR audits, engagement surveys, and organisational reviews
- Assisting with settlement agreements and associated documentation
- Contributing to webinars, articles, and thought leadership content
- Applying commercial awareness to all advice and recommendations
- Supporting proposals and presentations for prospective clients
- Keeping CRM systems and client records accurate and up to date
- Staying current with employment legislation and HR best practice
We’re keen to hear from HR professionals who thrive in advisory environments and enjoy working with a variety of clients and challenges.
- Strong HR generalist/advisory background (SME experience highly beneficial)
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases
- Solid knowledge of UK employment law
- Confident communicator able to explain HR matters clearly and pragmatically
- Excellent organisation and workload management skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365
- Experience in HR consultancy or professional services
- Mediation, coaching, or additional employment law qualifications
- Experience delivering workshops, training, or webinars
- Exposure to HR audits, engagement initiatives, or HR systems
- Experience supporting settlement agreements
